1st Richmond Group News & Events

January 2006

1st Richmond’s premises have been revamped with the installation of modern heating, disabled access and facilities, transforming it into a much more user friendly and useful asset to the people of Richmond. In January 2006 the refurbished building was re-opened by Rt Hon William Hague MP, Shadow Foreign Secretary and MP for Richmond. Many local people and charities contributed to the costs of the building’s refurbishment.

Scouting Centenary - Group Camp - Friday Feb 16 to Sunday Feb 18

1st Richmond is looking forward to a Group Winter Camp at Carlton Lodge Outdoor Centre. Activities will include High Ropes Adventure and Zip Wire, Abseiling, Orienteering, Problem Solving, Archery etc. provided by qualified Centre Staff. Accommodation is indoors and all catering is included. - Balance of camp fees due now please.

Scouting Centenary - International Jamboree - 27 July to 8 August

The World Scout Jamboree will be a gathering of Scouts from around the world for 12 days. Two Young Leaders / Explorer Scouts from Richmond are going, together with 3 1st Richmond leaders, joining the International Service Team.

Scouting Centenary - Sunrise Ceremony - 1 August

On 1st August 2007 1st Richmond will join with 28 million Scouts worldwide to celebrate the dawn of a new Century of Scouting. Scouting was founded on 1st August 1907 and so this day one hundred years on provides an excellent opportunity to celebrate and demonstrate the relevance of 21st Century Scouting for 21st Century young people. It will be the biggest gathering of young people that has ever happened in the world. The local celebration will be in Richmond Castle.
