For young people aged 8 to 10 years.

Scouting was originally designed as a programme
for boys over the age of eleven. Very soon younger brothers wanted
to be part of the "Grand Adventure”. Often they just
forced their way into ordinary Troop or Patrol meetings.
To cater for the younger brothers Baden-Powell
wanted something different, not a watered down Boy Scouts, but a
movement in its own rights, with its own identity and programme.
In 1916, outlines for such a scheme were announced; Wolf Cubs.
THAT OLD CHESTNUT! THE GRAND HOWL
The classic response when mentioning Scouting
is “DYB, DYB, DYB, DOB, DOB, DOB”. The true meaning
and background to this is from the Wolf Cubs Grand Howl, traditionally
used at the beginning of meetings. This ceremony is now no longer
in general use. The phrases stand for:
DYB – Do Your Best
DOB – Do Our Best
The Cub Scout's Promise
I promise that I will do my best, to do my duty
to God and to the Queen, to help other people
and to keep the Cub Scout Law. The Cub Scout Law
The Cub Scout Law
Cub Scouts always do their best, think of
others before themselves and do a good turn every day.
